Corrections, unit requests, and privacy questions all reach the same inbox.

UnitFlip is operated by NARUON and run by its small independent team. There is one address for everything, and it is read by the people who maintain the site rather than routed through a support desk.

We aim to reply within a few working days. There is no phone line and no live chat — this is a small operation and we would rather answer properly than quickly.

Reporting a conversion error

Accuracy reports get looked at first. To let us verify quickly, please include:

  • The exact conversion, as you entered it — for example "5 miles to km".
  • The page URL.
  • The value you expected, and the value the site showed.
  • The source you are comparing against, if you have one. A published standard or a manufacturer's datasheet is ideal.

Every report is checked against the published definition of the unit rather than against another converter. If a factor is wrong, it is corrected in the unit dataset, a regression test is added so it cannot come back, and the review date on the affected pages is updated. Our methodology page describes that process in full, and sources lists the standards we check against.

Requesting a unit or a converter

We add units where there is a defensible definition to add. Useful requests include the unit's name and symbol, the quantity it measures, and its relationship to an SI unit — ideally with a reference. Units whose value depends on local convention rather than a published definition are harder, and we will say so rather than guess at a factor.

Conversion pages are a separate matter: the site deliberately does not generate a page for every possible unit pairing, so a requested conversion may work in the category converter without having a dedicated page. That is intentional, and explained on the about page.

Privacy questions

Conversions are calculated in your browser and the values you type are never sent to us. For questions about analytics, advertising, cookies, or a data request, use the same address and mark the subject line "Privacy". Our privacy policy and cookie policy set out what is collected.

Accessibility problems

If something on the site is unusable with a screen reader, a keyboard, or at a particular zoom level, please tell us which page and which assistive technology you were using. See the accessibility statement for what we currently commit to.

Why there is no contact form

The site's pages are static — there is no server behind them to receive a form submission. Rather than display a form that silently fails, or route your message through a third-party service that would collect your details, we use a direct email link. It is one fewer party handling your message. The one exception is the blog's comment box, which posts to a small service of our own that stores nothing beyond the comment itself — see the privacy policy for exactly what that keeps.
